As the leaves start to turn and that crisp Kentucky air settles in, there’s no better place to celebrate fall than the Kentucky Horse Park. It’s a season when history, horses, and a touch of Halloween spirit all come together — from ghostly tours and ribbons to costume parades and candy-filled fun.

If you’re looking for something to do this October that captures the heart of Kentucky, here are three events that perfectly blend tradition, excitement, and family-friendly adventure.

Spotlight Events

The Crawl

October 10 and 11 - 5:30-7:30 pm

This after-hours event hosted by the International Museum of the Horse takes you through the park’s historic cemeteries with ghost stories, fascinating history, and a few eerie surprises. It’s an evening that mixes legend with learning — a walk through time under the glow of lantern light. Free to attend but space is limited, so early registration is a must.

The National Horse Show

October 22 - November 2

Held in the Alltech Arena, the National Horse Show is a can’t-miss showcase of world-class talent. Riders and horses from across the country compete in hunter, jumper, and equitation classes, bringing together elegance and adrenaline in one of the country’s most prestigious events. Whether you’re an avid equestrian fan or just love watching beautiful horses perform at their peak, this show is truly something special.

Hallowhinny

October 25 - 9:00 am - 5:00pm

For families, Hallowhinny is the ultimate fall celebration. Horses and riders dress up in creative costumes for the Parade of Breeds, kids trick-or-treat throughout the park, and everyone enjoys a full day of festive fun. From candy stops to cemetery chats and costumed horses, it’s a unique blend of Halloween and horse-country charm.
