About Paris Horse Farms & Land
Bourbon County has strict zoning policies to hold down suburbanization of the county. There must be at least 5 acres per parcel with 250 feet of road frontage, no more than one division per year, and no more than 3 divisions per five year period. To the best of my knowledge, they have made not a single exception to these rules. (The rest of the counties of Central Kentucky seem to make exceptions less exceptional.) This policy has made development basically non-existent and the net result is the Paris area has some of the best land, at the best prices, in all of Central Kentucky.
Bourbon County was named in honor of the ruling family of France, the Bourbons. The whiskey from Bourbon County that was distilled from the lush corn crops, stored in charred oak barrels, and shipped south to New Orleans was called bourbon whiskey. The combination of the crisp, fresh water from the limestone and the unique oak barrels gave the whiskey such a highly sought after taste, that today bourbon is world famous.
